Bloody mother in laws. On arrival back from her holiday to Tenerife she had got me a box of flor de canarias cigars which to be honest I was not too fussed on in the first place. I've had them in the box wrappped in cellophane since October last year. Last night I decided to put a few in my humi to see if they would be any different in that environment. At the moment my humi is in my bedroom cupboard so after putting four cigars in all being checked I bagan on the fifth when the wife proceeded to nag me and day " are you going to be doing this all night I want to go to sleep.". On completion of a small tiff.

The cigar entered the humi for a matter of seconds before I noticed the tell tale signs of beetle action. The wife went nuts and had to strip all the sheets off the bed and Hoover the room, large tiff. I just hope.

    A) nothing has fell out of said cigar.
    B) the life cycle of it is over.
    C) the extreme cold of the hold on the plane had killed it.
    Or
    D) the cellophane wrapper has asphyxiated it.

Only time will tell I suppose. Bloody mother in laws.

Has anybody had experience of this.

Mop-top hair cuts and catchy 60s pop songs?

        Sorry, wrong 'beetle'

Big Barney, the signs are it looks a bit like an apple being eaten by a worm. It just looks like its been eaten by something. Give it a tap on a surface and watch the dust come out that has been left after its ate and processed it.

I know its not the actual beetle but the larve of it that feeds on the cigar. Its all the same to me. Look it up on tinternet, its all there.

I've had a Monte Petit Edmundo from a tube, which on inspection had a hole in it and a dead beetle on it's back next to it. Quite plain to see, even without the dead beastie, that it had been eaten - those holes are very apparent!

Here's a pic of a Tobacco weevilbeetle_sm.gif & here's the only hole I ever had in my collection. Weevil.June2006.jpgTook it back & got a replacement from Mr Frank. Some 8yrs ago now, before the Cubans froze all their stock.
