  • In or out of tubes

Just a general question, I am sure people have different views but when storing in the humidor is it best to keep them in or out of tubes? I have just got myself 3 Siglo VI in tubes and decided to take them out and store in my humi tubeless...

What are people's views on this?

I have tubo's with the lids off in my humi. Leave the cedar inside though. They also make great dividers so flavours don't blend.

I prefer storing them in the tubes. Each to his own as there's no ' right' answer...

A main purpose of the tube is to seal the cigar in at perfect humidity, so there's really no need to un-cap it. OK, the tubes might not be perfectly air tight, but so what, air which can get out can also get in, so kept in the humi cap ON ..... they'll be perfectly fine. Although I must admit to being guilty of to removing the caps to take a look or a wee sniff of mine every now and again ..... I pretend it's a mould check!
If you want to, you can.

I do it like the 'dog. in tubes but caps off.
But I can't help thinking that as long as they are in your humidor it doesn't matter. If the cap is on any 'exchange' will be of humidified air so it doesn't matter really.
I think the point about the cedar is right though, can't have too much cedar!

Can't decide if I prefer them on the humi with or without really, the Siglo VI is a beautiful looking stick, but the tube looks so impressively big and fat...maybe I shall have to get another 3 and keep them in the tubes...any excuse!!

The blending or marrying of flavours is a bit of a myth IMHO. I've had a mix of 15-20 different singles in my desktop for the past couple of years and never noticed any marrying of flavours.

I know a few people who buy cigars in tubes when they want to age them - something about the benefits of slower maturation? They leave the caps on.

I leave mine out because I like to be able to look at them and take them out and smell them etc. But if I need to divide something such as a Big poweful Boli GM and my little RASCC's I will put a cigar in a tube to use as a divider. Each to their own though
A cigar is not measured by its cost - It is measured by how much it burns your fingers

In the tube with the lid off. No other reason other than that is how I always have done it and the smokes seem great!

In tube with lid off definitely soynds like the best of both worlds - you'll get the benefit of active humidification with no contamination

I have decided to go with the general opinion, in the tubes with lids off. It helps to make my humi look fuller that way too!!! Lol.
