Alcohol duty rates will not be changed. Tobacco duty will rise by 5% above inflation - 37p on a packet of cigarettes. The change starts at 1800 GMT today.

Inflation +5% = 8.3% increase in duty. Your probably talking about a 5ish % increase in costs. Can I be the millionth person to say that more people will start buying from abroad and will pay 0% to the national purse.Comment

Could be the largest increase I have ever seen as I believemost distributors absorbed price increases last year but will now also increase price so the equation will look like this
5% duty + inflation 3.3% plus importers increase X% plus VAT on the lot
Stock up in the next week before all prices are increased!
