Robusto or Lancero here, but certain types lend themselves to different shapes Monty 2 springs to mind. But yeah, long and thin or short and fat, just like I like my Women....oh wait

Looks like I'm not the only one with a preference for Corona Gorda

Corona Gordas or Robusto for me too as an everyday smoke, and something like a Prominentes, DC or Canonazo for a special occasion/when I have time. Smaller ring guages I find too harsh, the worst one being the trini reyes, found it awful!

More trini reyes problems, they are very very inconsistant.
Will give them a miss when all smoked.
              Sometimes great and sometimes awful.
              Hit and miss

I'm still learning and trying different things but piramides and robustos seem to be my preference.

That's queer! How old are the buggers?

They tend to settle down with a few years on 'em, but can be quite nasty under a year.

                  That's what I think, anyway...

They are only end of 2011, so just babies.
I have pulled them out of the humi and put them back in the box.
Might come back to them in a while, will not buy anymore though.
Nasty is what I would call them as well.
I take it you do not believe in the myth that all new sticks are ready to smoke out of the box.

Not Reyes, amigo...or most other puros, IMO. I've had the misfortune to receive a few boxes of Triny Reyes under a year old that were unsmokable, but very nice once they reached one year....and even better with two or more years on 'em!

The Reyes is in my rotation since 2005, it's a very consistent cigar…

Agreed SmallClub, ever since a comment I made about Gmacz seeming to have a high number of issues with his cigars, and that personally the one in question being a box of Trini Reyes being particularly problematic - would make me questions it's origins, but that's just me, he's had a real bee in his bonnet about the whole thing, how dare I suggest he might have smoked fake cubans yada yada - even though we probably all have!

I too have found the Reyes to be very consistent, and again IMO it consistently needs some time to come really good, though I don't mind them fresh either.

The second comment is regarding Mitch (Smokeymo) stating that in his opinion the ammonia issue with new boxes was a thing of the past, though I don't think he stated this meant all cigars were great when young, he was being specific about ammonia and relating stories of how it used to be in the 90s and so on. Again Gmacz took issue with this.

Though in his own words he buys cigars and smokes them within a year, which to me is pretty much fresh out of the box anyway...

Also been smoking Reyes for years and never, ever had a problem with one.

Likewise, Reyes for me have been consistently good, I can tell the difference with aging and my preference is for 3-5 yrs old but I'm currently going thru an early 2011 box with no issues. Also makes me question the source!!!!

I have only had issues with the reyes, nothing else.
Mont A were delivered faulty, it happens.
As has been said, under a year they can be unsmokeable, that is from an experienced smoker.
I can only agree with that from experience.
I was just agreeing with the poster that they can be awful.
I was just playing with you about the origins, did not think you were taking offence.
We all buy from the same dealers.
I did not comment on mitch and actually said after his post that I was learning a lot from what he said.
I smoke all new cigars and expect them to smoke perfect straight from the box, that is why they will not be aged and all gone this year. This is completely opposite to what you have posted.
I have nothing aged as I have just stocked up.
Stop quoting me as having issues with other people or what they write, you get the wrong end of the stick and just get it all wrong everytime.
You obviously have issues with me and cannot let other people have different thoughts that do not match yours, you save them all up and as here, you bring them all up.
Grow up and ignore what you do not like and stop forcing your views on others.
                                Move on and chill out.
