  • Thinking about a NC sampler.

Hey all never having smoke a NC in my life I've got to thinking that I might pick up a handful of sticks, really just to have the experience and (like Sainsburys) taste the difference I've got no preferences in mind as to strength or size etc and I know taste in general is a purely individual and subjective issue to but if any of you would like to put forward your thoughts or personal favourites I'd be very interested and grateful to hear them and perhaps put together a small shopping list together on the back of them. Thanks everyone

I suppose you can't really appreciate Cuban tobacco to it's fullest until you've had a few NC dog rockets!

The best NC I've ever smoked was a davidoff 1000, Arturo Fuente has a good name and their Hemingways are popular. Though honestly tasting these NCs will only cement your faith in Cubans.

It's like when you were young and naive you believed there was no such thing as bad sex ... until you got married. Thankfully you can just ditch the NCs when you're finished and go back to the good stuff. No need for a year of hell then having to move away before you can enjoy that Cuban twang again!

Agricola is correct I am afraid.

I am going to be very honest with you...NC's will always disappoint you, you will read reviews from our friends across the pond and they will all tell you how Nicaraguan, Honduran and Dominican tobacco is now the best in the world, producing the best cigars...They will also tell you about the great decline of the Cuban cigar. Trust me...I have fallen for this many times...It always leads to disappointment.

Having said that...You really should take no notice of me and try as many cigars as you can.(But I am still correct).

      Cheers.

Mentioning a N.C is like waving a red flag to a bull in these parts!!!!
Don’t listen to them, there are Loads of Good new world (to be politically correct) smokes.

        Some of my faves are.......

        RP- sun grown/Decade/vintage 1990
Fuente- lots of good smokes but my fave is the short story
        Ashton- VSG-overpriced but good
        Padron-5000
        Oliva-serie v (amazing) serie G
        Tatuaje-petit cazadore (spell check?)
        CAO-Gold

All of the above are available in the UK, except maybe the Gold.

Don’t get me wrong I LOVE Cubans but why limit yourself?

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

I have tried many NC's including a lot of the high-end and rare sticks and have yet to find anything that makes me want to smoke a second. I do however know plenty of people who love them so try everything and make your own mind up.

I am another in the NC lovers camp.

Af short story is a great smoke. Along with the work of art.
Tat anarchy is one of the best NC'S about.
The main thing is if you enjoy a cigar it does not matter where it came from. NC smokes are generally aimed at the US market so tend to be a let down for us in the UK.

I'm a big fan of NC's. Back when the exchange rate was better I smoked mainly NC's.

Got a box of CAO La Traviata's on the way and another NC sampler on the way courtesy of a fellow forum member. I'm an equal opportunities smoker

I'm nearly a Cubans only myself, but did very much enjoy a Nub Habanos I had a couple of months back, to the point I wouldn't mind getting hold of some more. One way or another I'd definitely be buying as many NCs as I'm allowed to bring back if I end up in the states at any point!

Yeah I've seen you talk about these and you're partly responsible for me choosing these as a 'go-to' cigar

Winston Churchill Lancaster. The only NC that I have rated above 90/100. The only full cuban seed cigar that Davidoff have made and it is gorgeous! Rich sweet tobacco and oodles of chocolate, I'm about to stock up on them this week

Cubans and non Cubans are two completely different things so much so i dont rate a non Cuban by any Cuban standards i just go in thinking it will do nothing for me and see how i feel at the nub.

So far ive found a few that i personally keep buying you might not like them but hay there is plenty to choose from.

                          A Fuente ch?teau fuente sun grown/maduro
                          Tat anarchy
CAO - Gold, italia and la traviata
Perdomo lot 23 and champagne noir
                          Rocky patel old world reserve
                          Oliva V double robusto
and last but not least under crowns.

The main thing which puts me off trying too many NCs is the use of dyes on the wrappers by some NC companies like Rocky Patel.

                              WELL I DIDNT KNOW THAT

While that kinda puts me off i find the RP edge smokes quite well either way along with most others its not enough to put me off smoking them though it is a bit cheesy.
