Hi Chris. I think in general cigar smokers get funny looks regardless of age. I've often got bemused looks when I've taken out a cigar case, Cutter and lit up a nice Montecristo. People are a little bemused by the ritual and at times the size of the cigar. I was at one of my kids football matches and was with some of the other fathers who were smoking cigarettes, when I lit up my cigar they thought it was the funniest thing they've seen-bizarre!! My advise is to enjoy your cigars and don't let age get in the way of it.

I started smoking cigars when I was 19 (now 24) and have always gotten funny looks from people, but that's never bothered me at all.

It's more the fact that it's not common, such as cigarette smoking. I'm 31 (eek) and been smoking cigars on-off for 10 years, never smoked cigarettes. Only really had time to enjoy more in the last few years but that was primarily due to a year working in Barbados where social life is spent relaxing outdoors. Now back in the UK, it's trickier, especially given smoking ban.

As long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters!

          Welcome to the forum.
im 27 and know what you mean about getting strange looks, i have even had someone start a fight with me once because and i quote 'think im something special'!
just dont pay any attention and keep puffing. cigars for me are not habit they are one of my passions and passion is something we should celebrate.

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

I get strange looks, maybe it is because I live in Suffolk! Being 26 I think back to when our fathers and grandfathers started out with pipes and cigars at a young age. They weren't old at all! I say lift your head up high and say 'I am a stogie lover and I don't care!' Welcome to the forum by the way!

Although I indulge far less than I used to, I've always found 'drawing looks' is part of the pleasure of enjoying cigars when out and about.

I didn't realise you were in Suffolk, L-Dog. I'm just across the border in Colchester - we should try and organise an Essex-Suffolk herf as the weather gets warmer...?

Being 18, I definitely get the odd gawk from passers by and indeed my peers. But I much prefer a good quality cigar or pipe tobacco than somethings more illegal that lads my age have a go at smoking.
I agree with Robusto, the curiosity and conversations it attracts aren't always bad.
I'm pretty sure I'm not trying to project myself to higher levels with illusions of grandeur with a stogie in hand, it's just very very enjoyable! But no matter what people say, I'll keep puffing

Smoke on and enjoy them folks, be you young or young at heart!
