  • New To the Site

I'm new to this site and rather new to the world of Cigars...

I've smoked several different cigars over the years but I have never come across a one that I can say ...YES that's it.

One a trip to Florida I came across the most amazing shop "THE CORONA CIGAR COMPANY" but as I was not big on knowledge I felt a bit like a kid in a sweetie shop and didn't really now what to look for or what to buy.

I came away buying some Ashton's, some Montecristo Pequenos (I haven't been able to find these in the uk), a bundle of house own brand cigars (for an every day smoke) and a few others that alas I can't quite remember.
Since that trip I have become really interested in cigars and have tried several, ranging from La Invictas ( prefered the churchill and maduro), Upmanns , Romeo and Julietas (didn't like these was a bit bland...sorry ), CAO, Jose L Piedra, Quorum, La Aurora, Guantanmera Cristales and the list could go on...

I've just recently just been bought a small humidor and a few cigars....but I can't find THE cigar as of yet.

I've been recommended "PUNCH" what are people's views on these.

This is what I want out of a cigar.

    1 40-48 ring gauge
    2 5- 5.5 inches long
3 Flavour.....A woody, nutty taste going into cinnamon...Not to peppery
    4 Wrapper...Not really bothered

I'd be glad for some advice and information

    Thanks Rob

Firstly welcome now the bad news im afraid 90% of the non-cuban cigar brands dont exist in England at all so unless you have friends in america or dont mind importing them to England (and paying hefty tax on top) your stuck with a smaller selection.

Punch cigars IMO are all right ive been having a bad run of luck with them recently but if you can find some good punch punch or punch petite punch your golden.
Non-cuban punch are a different matter though one i dont have experience with either.

As for stuff you might like with your criteria i would suggest.

    Diplomatico No2
    H.Upmann Connoisseur No1
    Hoyo de dieux
Oliva V series is worth a go

      Welcome to the site

For the woody profile I'd suggest:

      -Roman Allones Specially Select
      -Romeo Y Julieta Short Churchill
      -Partagas 898 Varnished

        Welcome from another newbie.
Go for some 3 packs across the range and you might find the taste you are looking for might change.
Bolivar and Partagas are the stronger blends.

Just because they are strong dosnt mean he shouldn't at least try them.

I just told him they were the stronger blends, never said do not try them.
He doesn't like bland, so try the Bolivar and Partagas.

A cigar is not measured by its cost - It is measured by how much it burns your fingers

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.
