I will only ever judge a cigar by how much i like it. simple. cuban/nc, maduro/claro, churchill/petit corona.
Makes no difference to me as long as i enjoy it.

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

I would take a premium NC over a poor CC , no problem. Ive ditched a few CC's due to draw issues etc , but it doesnt matter how pretty those NC bands look they are'nt gonna top the flavour of a good Habanos , having said, I think some makes should pay attention to quality and consistency. Look at the Behike range ive only smoked a few but even so young they've been good quality.

Do you really expect ANY kind of comparison between the "cheaper" Cuban cigars you mention (none of the brands make a robusto size) and a pricey overhyped Ashton?
What in the wide, wide world of sports is "Virgin" Sun Grown wrapper anyway?
I'd take a nicely aged Cuban Rafael Gonzales over any Ashton of any vintage any day.
But of course: it's everyone to his own taste and if you really find that a VSG Robusto is as rich and satisfying or even better than a Partagas SD No.4, then you will pay the money and take your choice.Commander Bob

I've not been smoking to long, but i do find the cuban cigars very inconsistent, in construction , draw and appearance, many are plugged, however i find a wider variety of flavour in a cuban cigar.
Non cuban are more consistent, in construction, draw and appearance, i've never had a plugged one , however there is less variety of flavour in them to me, and i have had the odd one or two unravel on me.
On the whole i smoke a fairly even amount of both and it all depends on what mood i'm in as to which stick i pick out of the humidor, including which brand size etc...
Cuban or non cuban, all in all as long as i'm enjoying my cigar it makes no difference as to whether it is cuban or non cuban.
It is said by many that african (cameroon) tobacco leaf is better than any leaf coming out of cuba, that i'm unsure of as i'm still learning, but i do know that some non cubans, use the african leaf and i've always find them to be enjoyable.Last edited by smokin_e2011; 19-02-2012, 12:31 AM.
