Why do you smoke.

Yes i got asked this today on the walk back from the pub.

Now the guy who asked me this is a friend of a friend and i personally hate his guts for a number of reason mostly because he constantly slaggs off my girlfriend for being different (cyber goth with tats and metal) and is a mocking little twerp that is a sad excuse to mankind he has also removed the wrappers on my cigars and thought it was real funny right up to the moment i broke his nose but thats a different story.

So we are walking back and i light up a RASCC and offer them to my smoking friends in the group and he decides to open his mouth and start the "why do you smoke" argument again.

Now this argument lasts for a while but it got me thinking why do we smoke is it for the relaxation and the ritual and the fact we enjoy it or are we addicted to it like he says.

Now i find it relaxing and a very enjoyable exuberance like a fine bottle of whisky or vodka or a night with my girl and sure it could and prolly will kill me one day but so could anything els so i might aswell enjoy myself before i get embraced by his noodley appendages (Pastaferian before anyone askes).

So before having this descend into a cigar addiction thread why do you guys and gals smoke as any reason is good enough in my eyes dont be afraid to suggest obscure reasons.

'Cause to occasionally sit back, relax, and enjoy the taste of a well made cigar (perhaps also with a drink of one's choice and/or one's favourite music playing) is a fantastic luxury.

I work shifts, which means I have a lot of time on my own through the day just me and my dog. When I've been to the gym, walked the dog, there's no better way to relax than kicking back with my laptop, headphones, my dog and a good cigar. I feel sorry for people who don't have the pleasure of cigars in their life.

Andy's is the best reason so far! I personally enjoy the collecting and buying, and searching for things you like etc. Then keeping them and storing etc. Smoking them seems a shame actually. Only joking. Its a way to relax and I find nothing better than having a cigar, a nice drink and reading a book in the fresh air!
