Hurrah for the Tupperdore

Have made my first Tupperdore to take care of 2 big boxes of cigars I have just taken delivery of. Bought tupperware from Tescos, silica kitty litter, made my own humidification solution of 50% propylene glycol, 50% distilled water to fight the risk of mold and a calibre III hygrometer. Once I got the kitty litter to right moisture, it has kept humidity at 69%, perfectly stable for 2 weeks. Better than my humidor!!! In go a box of Partagas P-2s and a box of Trinidad Robusto Extras. Mmmmm.

Sincere thanks to all who have posted advice on Tupperdores. Any advice going forward greatly appreciated.

Mine has been much the same absolute doddle, sure i read that you only need Distilled water with kitty litter????.

Hi Joao, you are probably right. I also read that the tupperdore presents a much higher risk of mould, hence the prop glycol. I put the kitty litter in a lidless tupperware then slipped it into an old stocking to prevent spillage.
It is brass monkeys here, and the humidity dropped nearly 10 points in the time it took to take these pictures.

My wife saw me taking these pictures and called me a "Total Cigar Geek!". I thought it was only drunks and small children who were supposed to tell you the brutal truth!!

oh and get used to it, I'm "always on that ruddy forum", and pictures or any packages in or out on the post brings on various "GEEK" related comments

I have fitted a small fan in mine to give a bit of circulation, currently sitting at 69% and about 65f, i am going to let the RH drop to 65/66 and keep it there which hopefully will keep mould at bay, any more experienced Tupperdor pilots please give us the heads up if we are on the wrong track.



the fan was a couple of quid of fleabay and i butchered 2 old drills for the baterries and charger

Someone hasnt been married long i see be thankful you only have one (that she knows about).

But its looking good i suppose as it has no real wood to hold it the humidity would drop pretty fast.

Lol, guess I'll just get used to it eventually. Mind you, tonight, we have farmed out both kids, its minus 2, so I have special pass to smoke one of the Trinis Robusto Extras indoors. Ahh life is good sometimes.

That fan is brilliant!! not sure I am good enough to do that, but will see if I can come up with something. Do you think the propGlycol will be a problem???

Just remembered I used 50/50 solution on my silica, just have to see how it goes, at ?4 for 4 liters of the stuff its not a great loss.

Don't worry, I get the same thing weekly. 'Why would anyone want to talk about cigars? Don't you just smoke them, whats to talk about?'

Best thing I have found is to embrace the inner cigar geek, and allow yourself to now buy 4 more tupperdores and fill them up at a substantial rate, just to prove to the misses how much of a geek you are!

The funny thing is, I thought that tupperware was going to be big enough. Damn I knew I should have gone for that 3 for 2 offer too.
