  • Lunch Break Cigar Help.

Hi, I am pretty new to cigars, so I was hoping someone would be able to help me out here and recommend some good shorter smokes. I'm looking for a cigar I can smoke in my lunch break at work, so around a 30/40min smoke, something with a mild taste as im not to fond of particularly strong cigars, preferably a relatively thick ring size, I dont really know if that affects the flavor, it just feels better to me. Any help would be great!

30/40 mins is short. You could go for some of the habanos short machine smokes. Or try a Nub 454, they are about at 30/40 min smoke. I know people are divided on them but for a quick smoke with plenty of ring guage they may hit the spot. Also if you are new to the site don't forget to introduce youself in the new members area.

30/40mins depends on how quick you smoke...

Hoyo Petit Robusto; could fit the bill on length and girth.
      Monte Petit Edmundo
      Ramon Allones Short Club Coronas
      Partagas Shorts
      Cohiba Secretos
Romeo y Julieta No.3 and Cedros de Luxe No.3
      Trinidad Reyes

all the kind of smoke I reach for when time is short...

All good smokes there Will. HDM peti robusto and Reyes would be on my list if I had been thinking clearly!

H Upmann Mag 48, a short, light but spicy chocolate smoke. About a half hour to smoke and has a good size ring gauge. Another is the Montcristo Edmundo, a nice grassy, peppery 40 min smoke.

If you fancy the non cuban side, a Quarum Torpedo is a good light cigar but stands at just under 6" and has a RG of 50!

This is just by opinion on how fast I smoke though. Test them out on non work days to see what works for you. Smaler ring gauges tend to be quicker though, and I would have to recommend the El Ray del Mundo Demi Tasse. A great short smoke!

Good luck on your cigar journey!

Just thought of these for a NC. AF Short story from the Hemmingway line. Great smoke and about 30 mins easily. Another for you is the Cuaba Divino.

maybe i've got the wrong idea here, but when i want to enjoy a good cuban cigar, i make sure i have no time constraints!!! i certainly wouldn't try to squeeze a great cigar like the h upmann magnum 48 into a 30-40min lunch break, that's an absolute waste of a good stick!!! i'm surprised so many people are suggesting good, decent cuban cigars that normally take around 40-60mins as someting to be squeezed into a lunch break!!! shame on you all for encouraging a newbie to waste money and good cigars during a lunch break...

forgive me for jumping the gun and sounding judgemental, but you admit you're 'pretty new to cigars'! trying to squeeze in a thick gauge cigar into a lunch break sounds silly!!! are you looking to impress someone at work? sounds like you've a lot to learn about this cigar smoking lark, young grasshopper....... a cohiba club would suite your needs and pocket (decent quality machine made cuban cigar, ?10 for 10, approx 20min smoke)!!!

also, i suggest to look at this:

btw, i'm not a snob, i just want 'newbies' to quickly learn to respect and appreciate the fine qualities cigar smoking has to offer!! most importantly, learn to appreciate the relaxation cigar smoking offers....

I guess it depends where you are having your lunch break. Nice park on a sunny day, clip the end of a short smoke and fire it up. watch the world go past for 40 mins enjoying some fine tobacco. I think an NC like a nub would be in order, CC's definately need to be savoured.

I would agree with this imho, a cigar is something to be savoured and enjoyed not something to be rushed.

My bad Alex. Was just trying to help. Personally speaking I agree with the fact that CCs are not meant to be rushed but to saviour. I wouldn't dare to smoke on my lunch break though! -hypocrite alert!-

hey dog, can't fault you for trying to help out a niave newbie who doesn't know any better!! you just wanted to pass on a good experience that would only be wasted in the 30-40min time constraint!! also, a newbie should know that smoking a cigar and eating lunch at the same timeis not the done thing (i think it's safe to say most of us smoke after a meal, usually with a drink! this way you get to fully apreciate the flavours etc)!!! also, smoking a cigar on an empty stomach is not good......

You might as well go for a Castella's because trying to smoke a decent Cigar in 40 mins will make it taste like a "mierda de perro".
