Hey guys, after Christmas (possibly for my birthday in February) I would like to get a nice cutter. I currently use a credo twin blade (?7) but have found that it is getting less and less effective each time I use it and is now more squashing the end of the cigar off than cutting through it like it did when I got it. I think the Palio cutter would be a good buy (?31) as I've heard a lot of good stuff about them and Mitch from cgars recommends them. I was wondering if anyone could give me a +1 on the Palio or give me any other good alternatives in the same price range, thank you in advance

Have to agree with Harpo, if I use a cutter these days ie torps & figarados, I use my Palio. No squeezing, just a clean cut & it's 5yrs old now.

I am going to go against the general opinion here.
I bought one a few weeks ago (after reading Mitch's comments) and to be honest I am disappointed with it.
It tears rather than cuts cleanly, and leaves lots of small jagged ends of tobacco. It also leaves a cut that is not flat, but has a slight "dome" shape. Frankly, I get a better, neater and flat cut with the freebie black plastic CGars cutters.
I am now considering getting a Xikar cutter instead.

Omegar, sorry to hear about your bad experience. From day one I've had nothing but a razor sharp cut with Palio, a lot better than with the Xikar I used beforehand.
How do the blades feel to you, mine seem pretty sharp. It should be self sharpening so try opening and closing it a few times before cutting to see if that makes a difference."Achieving life is not the equivalent of avoiding death." Ayn RandComment

I use a xikar it came free with a subscription to 'cigar journal' magazine !!! ( the subs inc postage was €28 which is less than a cutter so bargain in my book)

With the exception of thin vitolas, I prefer to use a punch these days, particularly for the larger ring gauges. Never experienced the bitter taste some mention when using this methord. Give it a try, punches are cheap enough to have a punch & a cutter. Also works well if travelling through airports
