  • Cigar cuts and shapes

So I know of wedge cuts and straight cuts and punch's but are there any others?

Is there one that's significantly better or is it like most things in the world of tobacco that rely on personal opinion?

As for shapes I know of the following:

    Parejo
    Torpedo
    Pyramid
    Perfecto
    Presidente

Is there a best? Or again is it opinion? I have only experienced Parejo but there is something about a torpedo or perfecto style that looks amazing and i would love to get my hands on some!

I am also slowly trying to learn the different names for length and gauge in cigars

Presidente is not a shape, it's the vitola de salidad (=commercial name) of a particular cigar in the Partagas line, and it's a figurado. Torpedos, pyramids and perfectos are all figurados.

btw, beware of some errors/mistakes on www.cubancigarwebsite, in the "Common names" column; for instance Partagas Shorts belong (like all minutos) to the Tr?s Petit Corona category, they are not "petit coronas".

If now we could just find a way to stop that damn avatar from freaking me out every time I see it!
