  • Forward Planning. 2012

It's something I try to do, but usually end up failing at because to many to-good-to-miss opportunities have a habit of eating up my cigar money.

Usually I lay in my short Winter cigars during the Summer and try buying the reverse during the Winter, although to be honest I don't have, or smoke many bigger smokes (Prominente, Churchills etc) preferring narrower gauges (Laguito, Palmitas etc).

2012 however I see as being slightly different. I'm not too badly of for short smokes (Perla, PC etc) but will be looking to supplement the Tuppadore with a 10 or 25 Monte No 5 which I'm nearly out of, and depending on how they smoke possibly a 25 x H. Upmann Half Coronas.

Longer smoke buys for next year I see as being quite modest. 5 x Cohiba Lanceros and possibly a Lonsdales box, but which I don't know yet.
I will also be looking to get a box of Petit Piramides, again I don't know which, and possibly 2 boxes of Petit Robusto, of which the H. Upmann Mag. 48 is a definite, I'm not short on singles, but think now possibly is a good time to buy the 48s as I can foresee these vanishing in the not to distant future. I've got some HdM and Monte Petit and I've a box of RA Lucitanos. I've got a ERdM as a trial smoke, so I guess I'll have to see on that.

So, the Tippexx CCs plan for 2012 (Excluding 5ers and random ER and EL singles) looks something like:-

    10 or 25 x Monte 5 (Definite)
    25 x H Upmann Half Coronas (Possible)
    5 x Cohiba Lanceros (Definite)
    25 x Undecided Lonsdales (Possible)
    25 x Petit Piramides (Definite)
    25 x H Upmann Mag 48 (Definite)
    25 x Short Robustos (Possible)

Well that's my list. Not too daunting thank God. Although I would have added a 25 x PL Panatelas, except Habanos don't appear to have released any this year.

    Anyone else have a list?
If you want to, you can.

Aye, it's the number of stix. I usually end up a a few extras than I planned but I buy my cabs & boxes in a planned way so I always have aged stock on hand. PLPC: I am down to 31 stix in my cab. Buying a 2008 Cab next year means by the time I get through my current cab, the next one will be 5-7 yrs old when I start it, be well over 12yo before I finish it. RASCC: I have 4 stix from 2005 & 8 from 2006. Buy a new box from 2008 next year & they'll be fine in the 2-3 yrs when I get around to opening them. Doesn't everyone plan things that way

Yes. But I messed up this year (twice). I've a box of (i'm too ashamed to admit the date) ERdM Demi Tasse that I thought were going to be 08s and a 2010 Box of Partagas Shorts which I would prefer to be older. But I've enough of both to hold of touching either box for at least another year, so maybe not so bad and the ERdMs I can always twist my arm into getting more of anyway. Never a stick to be short of that one.

Si's idea .... decide on the box, and decide on the year sounds pretty sound to me!

Haha, I knew I should have spent some more time typing a response rather than just the quick two liner.

I was pretty sure it was the amount of sticks that were to be bought. However with regards to the PSD3's, 37 seemed like a very specific and unusual cigar related number. So I thought I might have missed something obvious, and the numbers related to something else haha.

                    Oooops

Ahh, D.W. I see where you were coming from. I actually brought two cabs of 50 but as I had previously arranged to split one cab with another forum member, I didn't count them on my totals.

I don't really plan ahead but have a few ideas on what to buuy next year. Have to wait til the stock dwindles as my 75 count humi is choc-o-bloc, or buy a bigger humi and give the smaller one to a knewbee in need! Damn, I'm sounding like I am forward planning!

I have a plan, tis very simple. Smoke the 20 or so cigars I have in my humidor, then, once I get my new job offshore (currently unnemployed) I am going to stock up on a few RASCC, and possibly some RyJ No.2's and a range of singles to try as there is still loads I want to explore in the world of cigars
A cigar is not measured by its cost - It is measured by how much it burns your fingers
