  • Tobacco University?

Can anyone tell me anything about the Tobacco University in the states:http://tobacconistuniversity.org/

They offer accreditation for people who work in the luxury tobacco industry - does anyone have this? Is there a benefit to being part of the TU network?

Basically, I'd just like to know more about this whole idea / whether it is a good thing for the industry or just someone trying to make a fast buck. All your thoughts very welcome.

    Thanks

The idea makes me giggle. Is there an alcohol university?

The only thing i can imagine for tobacco uni is to learn how to roll every size and style of cigar.

Looking at the site, it appears the course is to become a certified retail tobacconist. I imagine, this therefore is a way to educate retailers a little further, not just in cigars but the whole tobacco range. Is it required? I doubt it. I would like to think that if you have decided to open a shop dealing with tobacco, it stems from some sort of passion, and knowledge of that industry. I assume everything you learn there, you could learn from browsing the internet.

The site looks like it was put together but a 12 year old. I assume the certificate is probably printed on the back of an old Chinese menu also.

Are you saying medical students are alcoholics, or illegal moonshiners?

A good friend of mine is a 4th year Med student @ Brighton... I think it's fair to say from his performance that he could be classed as an alcoholic, lol. The Bristol Dental department are a rowdy bunch too.

Lol. Thanks all. Interesting to hear your thoughts. I didn't want to judge it too harshly, as could have been an important institution doing a very worthwhile job bringing more cigar knowledge to the mainstream. Sadly though, based also on your comments, this may not be the case.

Definition of an alcoholic: you drink more than your Dr.

on the moonshine front: my home brew is tasting good (but I won't be distilling it to moonshine)
