And Then It Occurred To Me....

Muchachos - This morning wasn't a perfect day in State of Mind, Mexico, but a decent day, nonetheless. So I decided to try a particular stick that has been receiving a lot of play on this forum lately, rather than waste one of my finest puros on such a day. I had tried one of these sticks years before, but as I remember, it didn't leave much of an impression. So I went to the back of the rack of my humidor and found one hanging about. Great!

I grabbed el Perro and off we went for a lovely morning walk-about with a fine cup of Mexican Joe and this highly touted stick. I was really looking forward to giving it another go, due to all the chatter. It's actually a well-constructed, beautiful stick with a lovely, oily sheen just begging to be sparked up. So spark it up I did. About an inch in, however, I realized that my original impression was accurate - it was only a so-so stick. I was relieved!
That's right, I WAS RELIEVED!
So right about now you're probably asking yourself....Has Ol' TJ Finally Lost His Mind???

Well, maybe. But here's why I was relieved. It occurred to me that there are many, many excellent puros and non-puros that I keep in constant stock. So the fact that the particular stick did not live up to the hype meant that I would not have to add it to my regular rotation and buy a box or two at $170 a pop!

So, am I crazy?

Sure, it would have been nice if it went to the "top of the charts" with a bullet, but I knew going in there was no chance of that, based on all the reviews I've read. But I was thinking it had potential to be a be decent, a box-worthy stick, yet I was pleased that it turned out not to be the case.
