  • how to ruin a perfect moment.........

I was having one of those lovely moments today.
i had just finished a busy day of delivering a training course in wales, i returned to my hotel (the priory) in Caerleaon which as the name suggests is a beautiful old priory dating back from 1180.
The weather was chilly but calm and sunny so i decided to wrap up and go find a nice spot to smoke a cigar.
once decided that i was going to smoke a winston churchill lancaster as it was the shortest smoke i had with me i went and found i nice sheltered spot in the lovely grounds the priory has to offer.

i lit the cigar sat back on the bench and began to unwind

after about 20 mins i was refelcting on how much i was enjoying this great value little stick and the veiws before me.

30 mins past and i was thinking nothing could ruin this moment. the evening sun on my face with air still enough to see the tinted blue clouds of tasty smoke hanging in the air.

then i noticed a gate being opened behind me what followed was a prosession of bins being dragged across the century old cobbles!! propper ruined my vibe i can tell you! the sound remanicance of those rumbble strips you cross as your approaching a junction from the moterway!
if it had been just one i could proberly of just ignored it but after the first one followed 4 others!

finally the gate was closed the bins having been returned and the irratating sound doubled and i was able to get back to my solace and cigar but unfortunatly not quite able to regain the sence of well being that had long since left.

so my question to you fellow BOTL is what has ruined perfect moments for you, cigars or otherwise?

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

More than once, a moment like that has been ruined by simply a bad cigar

One time it was a deafening jet plane.

More than a few times, my neighbour's loud and young son.

    The list could go on.

When I started smoking cigars I gave my friend one (a cigarette smoker) and after about 5 minutes just bashed the end into the ground and said, that was vile, time for a ciggy!
A cigar is not measured by its cost - It is measured by how much it burns your fingers

I was enjoying a Trini Reye in Cambridge a month ago sitting near Kings College. I was in the zone until some body came up to me wanting to buy a cigar off me. He drew out his change and all he had to his name was ?1.70 odd. I said 'no' and he walked away disgruntled. How dare he try and buy a CC for what he had? I don't hold a grudge but that took the biscuit and ruined my 'me' time.

My dad is good friends with the owner of The Priory!

It must be so annoying having reached a state of absolute relaxation and then it's ruined.

                    Thats funny...

A Trini Reye would be wasted on the everyday bod anyway!

I have had serveral cigars ruined by earwigs!! really not a big fan of earwigs,..spiders, woodlice, bugs etc fine, but earwigs, no thanks.

I used to sit at the bottom of my garden over looking some fields and would often have a cigars ruined by earwigs crawling all over me! EEEER! Always thought they were on the chairs I would sit on, as I could see them before I would sit down, but would brush them all off. So, I would sit down thinking they had all gone and then EEER! earwig on the neck!! [nothing kills the relaxing cigar buzz like an earwig actually trying to go in your ear!] I couldn't figure out where they were coming from, guessed they must be crawling out of the chairs [hollow metal]......
BUT NO..... They were falling on to me from the tree above me!! Looked up and its covered in the nasty little blighters!! Cunning Bl**dy earwigs!

So long story short, you wont catch me sitting under that tree anymore!

I'll call them off once you admit Trini Reyes are not for the everyday bod!
