Try Ajay at laCasa in Teddington. Hard to find serious vintage sticks as singles though.

Perhaps I shouldn't look into this too much further - I smell bankruptcy in the air Would be great to try one though.

Has to be the Por Larranaga robusto 2007 RE I had the day after my daughter was born. A special occasion obviously but the cigar would have been an occasion in it's self. Chocolate, caramel, peanut butter and citrus combined into one of the most complex and flavourful smokes I've ever had. So good I bought a box but not cracked it yet.

Maybe. The Opus X (and it's cousin, Anejo) at times can be pretty good, but they can also be, as senor stevietheboy would say...Meh!

Best stick I have had this year was a Saint Luis Rey Serie A from March 08 that I smoked a couple of months ago. It had a lot going on, creamy and complex with some fruity undertones. The burn was also the straightest I have ever seen on a cigar, right down to the nub.

Other than that I have had a lot of joy from the HDM PRs and EPI no1s, JL2s and of course the mighty PSDN4.

Yeah, ive heard conflicting reports on the Opus X...

Do you think that maybe the Hype and price is creating this??

                    Surely they gotta be good???

What cuban do you think they compare to?? if any??

I feel like 90% of NC are rubbish but the 10% can give the best cubans a good run for there money

Good thoughts all, senor JJ smiley1925.gif

Yes. High price and marketing create a buzz about this stick, but I think the quality of the stick depends on the production year . Some years are simply better than others.

I don't know what puro they compare with, but the good ones stand up very well to some of the finer puros, IMO. The bad ones, not so much.

Percentage wise, 10 percent may be a bit low for decent NCs, but I've come across more NCs that I consider to be "meh," than I do ones that are worthy of a spot in don TJ's magnificent unit.

But that's just what I think, based on a over 200 years of Coro combined smoking of puros and non-puros!

Names Boy, Bag Boy, and I've had a few NCs that compare nicely to the finest puros!
