I was always under the impression that if it could be wiped off with no mark or stain left behind, then it wasn't mold. Are there exceptions here?

Personal experiences only or you could be responsible for some poor newbee trashing his hard earned cigars.
I've had mould on the feet of some aged Monte A's..cut an inch off & had a damn good smoke.....
