Mould in tubos!

I bought a RyJ No.2 single about two weeks ago and it's been sat in the glove box since. I didn't even take the lid off to give it a sniff... So I got it out tonight to have a puff and the bastard thing was covered in white, fluffy mould. Has anyone else had this problem with tubos? I'm not very chuffin happy!

Hi Paul,
Sounds like plume, brush it off with a soft brush (I use an old artists brush) & it will smoke fine. Just the warm temps lately.

Google plume and mould, there is literally countless pages on info on it. The issue I would have is that you don't want to be inhaling any type of mould.

The trouble with tubed cigars are that they can be sometimes put straight into their tubes when fresh, so you have a sealed inviroment with high humidity, then they can be exposed to heat and BOOM mould.

I've had exactly the same problem a couple of times (with exactly the same cigar), so now I always check them in the shop. Even my local Tesco is willing to open up the tube and check for me.

As Si says, just brush it off. But, keeping it in the glove box isn't such a good idea really. Sun on a parked car and the heat soars, at night, especially if it's raining the temperature inside drops dramatically .... and if you're cars got air-con, up goes the humidity. Keep a ready in the glove by all means, but pop it in the pocket when leaving the motor.

They did up untill a few months ago. Unfortunately they then started stocking Helix NCs instead.

Fingers crossed it's just a temporary glitch.

Our local waitrose is also the only place I have seen that stock cigars, although their selction consists as of yesterday, of two Punch, and one H. Upmann, nothing to exactly rave about. Better than nothing however!

Its all about too humid condition's, usually over 80% at least though, contrary to most view points it has not got much/anything at all to do with temperature. Just my 2 cents worth
