  • What is your preferred time and location for a cigar?

As a newbie I was just trying to picture the time and place for me to enjoy a good smoke. Now, there is a lovely restuarant I visit around 4-5 times a year in Roydon Essex called Franco's. Its an Italian family run restuarant that has never let me down on the service and food that they serve.

When in season I always go for the mussels in white wine sauce. The main would be either a medium/rare T-bone or a rack of welsh lamb cutlets which is so tasty and to end, I always have the homemade tiramasu.

Outside they have a few tables (all under cover) that me and my good lady sit to enjoy a nice bottle of wine pre meal. After our food we will sit back outside with another bottle (weather prevailing) and take in a nice summer evening.

Now I have the perfect place to enjoy a good cigar with Franco the owner, who enjoys a good chat about football.

Do you have a special place?

Winter venue: my friends living room infront of his roaring fire, as he & his wife smoke, it's the only place I know to smoke inside in comfort at the mo'.

I'll smoke anywhere long as it's outdoors and in the sunshine.

Winter, it has to be near an open fire though... heaven!

Just needs a bit of sunshine on the patio and I'm there, either that or the local that is 20 yards from my door.

Nothing stressful about running a marathon my friend! Running is a great way to de-stress, and just let your mind drift off into a state of zen-like calmness as you plod out mile after mile after mile.....

                  Back on topic!

Love sitting on my garden on a warm evening just as the sun disappears over the horizon. There's something about seeing the red glow of the cigar at night that's strangely pleasurable!

All depends on my mood and where I am really. When I'm in Plymouth I love heading down to the Barbican on a sunny afternoon and sitting down with a cigar, overlooking the marina. On the odd occasion that I smoke in my flat, it's an evening thing, with a glass of something nice and a good film on the TV.

At the parents it has to be in the garden, on a sunny summer's afternoon.

If I'm in London... any time, anywhere! Already love the Boisdale CW terrace, and am often found decamped in JJF or, more recently, Sautter's.

my preferred time to smoke a cigar is late in the evening, after work or when i've done my fatherly duties putting my son to bed and reading him his stories!!! usually it's around 10pm, when i can sit and watch the blue fug of havana smoke drift away into the night sky!!! i've never smoked in the morning, rarely in the afternoon and occasionally in the evening!!!*

there's an old german saying, that goes something like:
after dinner, one should use a woman or have a smoke!!!

i rarely get the pleasure of a woman after dinner, so a cigar is my option!!! lol.....

My main preference is always in the afternoon, undercover somewhere, anywhere, with a heated outdoor lamp, watching the rain fall around me. Nothing more relaxing in my mind. Other than this, a variety of places and times, so long as I have the time to fully appreciate and detach myself from the day completely.

For me it's evening time, usually somewhere I can get comfy. I've never had the privilege of smoking a cigar indoors, but settled back in front of a roaring fire sounds idylic!
